Kahe Primary School was built in 1945 in rural Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania, East Africa. The village is in a valley that is susceptible to storms. In 2013, the school lost its roof in one of those storms. We are on a mission to build a strong roof for Kahe Primary School; to give the children of Kahe Village a safe environment to learn. This is how 'Raising the Roof for Kahe Primary School' starts.
In September 2017, Jake Guay, Lusajo Mwamakula and I collaborated to raise awareness on the challenges this village faces and to raise funds to build a new roof for the school. With a wonderful network of people in Ottawa, Canada, we had a successful fundraiser and we will be able to build a new roof and floors for the school.
We have partnered with two wonderful men in Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania, to help us manage the project. We will continue to collaborate with John Mmbanbo and Ndiko Mwamakula from start to finish to ensure the roof is up and the children have a safe space to learn by January 2018.
