In the first week of January, with the visit of our School of Business Director, we found ourselves hiking up to 'Mama Laya's house for what would be our last visit with the mushroom farmers of Mwika, Kilimanjaro. Thanks to our director, who brought food scales from Canada, we were able to provide the group with a resource that will aid them in managing their inventory more effectively.
Above all, none of this would have been possible without the people who contributed to the project. I am forever grateful, because although I might have been there to pass on knowledge in the end you provided me with the opportunity to learn in a new environment and to grow personally and professionally. Thank you.
And, that folks, is a wrap for the Micro Business Catalyst Fund East-Africa 2012/2013. Wishing the Mwika Mushroom Group and all of you a prosperous 2013.
A special thank you to Sarah Proctor and Jen Vagg, RRU BComm Grads and Micro Business Catalyst Fund Fellows, who donated the capital to develop a hut from 10 to 200 bag capacity. This has given 'Mama Laya' and her family the opportunity to be a part of a new venture on a much larger scale than they had anticipated.
