Our Project Manager, John Mmbando, has been busy as a bee in Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania, procuring products to rebuild Kahe Primary School.
Since October John has been collaborating with stakeholders and managed to get good prices on concrete for the floor and wood for the roof. He hired a couple contractors who have started the job and anticipate to have the school finished by January 2018.

Raising the Roof, Part I
Kahe Primary School was built in 1945 in rural Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania, East Africa. The village is in a valley that is susceptible to storms. In 2013, the school lost its roof in one of those storms. We are on a mission to build a strong roof for Kahe Primary School; to give the children of Kahe Village a safe environment to learn. This is how 'Raising the Roof for Kahe Primary School' starts...
In September 2017, Jake Guay, Lusajo J. Mwamakula and I collaborated to raise awareness on the challenges this village faces and to raise funds to build a new roof for the school. With a wonderful network of people in Ottawa, Canada, we had a successful fundraiser and we will be able to build a new roof and floors for the school.
We have partnered with two wonderful men in Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania, to help us manage the project. We will continue to collaborate with John Mmbando and Ndiko Mwamakula from start to finish to ensure the roof is up and the children have a safe space to learn by January 2018.
